Violence Erupts in Bulandshahr During Wedding Celebration

A disturbing incident occurred in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, where a group of Muslims reportedly attacked Hindu Dalits. This took place on the evening of February 23, 2026, during a wedding celebration where the Hindu family was engaged in rituals and festivities.
During the celebration, tensions escalated when extremists demanded the cessation of music being played at the event. The police have registered a complaint against 14 identified individuals and 50 unknown assailants, leading to the detention of seven suspects. Four individuals, including a woman, sustained injuries during the altercation.

The incident unfolded in the village of Ginoura Sheikh, where a wedding ceremony was taking place at the residence of Akash Kumar. The family was celebrating with a DJ and dancing when a group of Muslims pressured them to stop the music, citing their prayer time.
After the music was halted, the Hindus resumed the festivities once the prayers concluded. Shortly thereafter, a mob led by local figures armed with sticks invaded the Hindu household, resulting in physical confrontations and verbal abuse, including caste-based slurs. The attackers also issued threats to the lives of the Hindu attendees. A video of the incident has since circulated widely on social media.
Police Response
Following the attack, Akash filed a complaint against the assailants at the local police station. Authorities responded promptly to the scene to restore order. Senior officials have taken the matter seriously, with the City SP, Shankar Prasad, confirming that a case has been registered based on the complaint and that appropriate actions are underway. He assured that adequate police presence has been established in the village to maintain law and order.
According to Station Officer Neeraj Kumar Malik, the clash arose over the music system. In response to the situation, police reinforcements have been deployed, and patrols have intensified. The police emphasized that the situation is under control and that no one will be allowed to disrupt public peace.
