Incident at MLA Maharaji Prajapati's Home

A serious incident has been reported at the residence of Maharaji Prajapati, a member of the Samajwadi Party (SP) from Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, where unruly elements created chaos and engaged in physical altercations. Upon receiving the news, law enforcement acted swiftly, filing a case against 10 identified individuals and 24 unknown assailants, initiating an investigation.


According to a senior police official, the incident occurred around 8:30 PM on Tuesday when a group attacked the residence located in the Development Colony of Amethi, belonging to Maharaji Prajapati, the wife of former mining minister and convicted individual Gayatri Prasad Prajapati.


Details of the Attack

Manoj Kumar Mishra, the Circle Officer of Amethi, stated that the police arrived promptly at the scene, but the suspects had already fled. Initial investigations revealed that a dispute had arisen on social media between supporters of the MLA, Dheeraj Pal and Sher Bahadur Yadav, which escalated into a physical confrontation.


Anurag Prajapati, the younger son of Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, filed a complaint at the Amethi police station, alleging that while family members were present in the area, Sher Bahadur Yadav, Jai Singh Yadav, and over 30 others arrived at their home in three vehicles around 8:30 PM.


Allegations of Threats and Assault

The complaint claims that these individuals verbally abused MLA Maharaji Prajapati, former minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, and their entire family, issuing death threats and causing a disturbance. When women present in the house attempted to record the incident on their phones, the assailants reportedly snatched their devices and assaulted them.


Sources indicate that Jai Singh Yadav is a local leader of the SP. Officer Mishra confirmed that a case has been registered based on the family’s complaint, and legal actions are underway as the investigation continues.


The police have named Jai Singh Yadav and nine others in the case, while 24 unidentified individuals are being charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 191(2) (related to riots), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intentional insult).
