A recent update on September 28 indicated that his friend Marcus Couto reported Kambli's condition as stable, noting that he appeared stronger and was able to walk during a visit.

Kambli's cricket career began with a legendary partnership with Tendulkar during their school days, where they set an unbroken world record of 664 runs in 1988.
