Vinesh Phogat Raises Serious Allegations Against Former Wrestling Chief
Vinesh Phogat's Concerns Ahead of Wrestling Tournament
Prominent Indian Olympian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has once again leveled serious accusations against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the former president of the Wrestling Federation of India. In a video shared on social media, Phogat expressed her deep concerns regarding her participation in the Senior Open Ranking Wrestling Tournament scheduled to take place in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, from May 10 to 12.
Phogat revealed that she is one of the six victims who filed sexual harassment complaints against Singh, and her case is still pending in court. She stated that the upcoming tournament in Gonda could pose challenges for her health and mental well-being due to Singh's significant influence in the area.
In her video, Phogat remarked, "Brij Bhushan's residence is in Gonda, and he owns a private college there. Every athlete working hard there may not receive their due rights. The entire system will be controlled by Brij Bhushan and his associates. The government and the sports ministry remain silent on this issue."
Phogat further mentioned that she had been away from wrestling for the past year and a half but is now preparing to return to competitions. She emphasized her goal of winning medals for the country and is dedicated to upholding the honor of the national flag.
In her video, Phogat also noted that she had accused Brij Bhushan of sexual harassment against female wrestlers three years ago, and the case is still ongoing in court. She stated, "This matter is under the directives of the Supreme Court, and today I feel compelled to inform you all that I am one of the six female wrestlers who filed a complaint."
Phogat's statements have reignited controversy within the Indian wrestling community, raising questions about whether the sports ministry and the government will take any action regarding this matter.
