Community Effort to Save Birds

In response to the intense summer heat, residents of Ratlya village have launched a commendable initiative aimed at helping local birds. The villagers have committed to installing thousands of water containers to alleviate the thirst of these voiceless creatures and potentially save their lives. The plan involves placing approximately five thousand containers throughout the village and surrounding areas to ensure birds have access to water during the hot months.

The campaign has been spearheaded by both the youth and the elderly of the village. They noted that every summer, many birds suffer due to a lack of water, with some even losing their lives. To combat this issue, the community decided to proactively set up water containers on a large scale this year.

Participants in the initiative shared that the containers will be strategically placed at homes, trees, temples, schools, and public spaces. Additionally, it has been agreed that each family will be responsible for refilling the containers daily, ensuring that this effort continues throughout the summer and is not just a one-time event.

Elders in the village remarked that in the past, it was common for people to keep water outside their homes for birds, but this tradition has dwindled over time. Initiatives like this aim to rekindle sensitivity towards nature and wildlife among the community.

Children and women from the village have also actively participated in this initiative. The children took the initiative to tie the containers themselves and place them on trees. Community members believe that caring for these birds is one of the greatest acts of virtue.
