Introduction to the Vikramaditya Vedic Clock

The Vikramaditya Vedic Clock, envisioned by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, is garnering significant attention nationwide. From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the general public, many are intrigued by this unique clock. On April 29, during his visit to Uttar Pradesh, the Prime Minister observed the clock at the Kashi Vishwanath complex.

Journey of the Vedic Clock

Originating from Ujjain, the city of Mahakal, the Vikramaditya Vedic Clock is making its way through various pilgrimage sites across the country. This clock not only tells time but also provides information on sunrise, auspicious moments, planetary positions, and the Hindu calendar.

PM Modi's Insight into the Clock

Upon viewing the clock, Prime Minister Modi took a keen interest in understanding its features and functionality. The clock was installed in the Kashi Vishwanath temple complex a few months ago. It was presented to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath by Dr. Mohan Yadav on the 3rd of this month, and was set up the very next day.

Based on Sunrise to Sunrise Timing

Before its installation at Kashi Vishwanath, the clock was already placed at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. The foundation of this clock is rooted in ancient Indian Vedic timekeeping. Scholars from the Vikramaditya Research Institute in Ujjain developed it. Unlike conventional clocks that measure time in hours and minutes, this clock is based on the duration from one sunrise to the next. Prime Minister Modi inaugurated it in Ujjain in 2024.

CM Yadav's Vision for Ujjain

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav is advocating for Ujjain to be recognized as the Prime Meridian. He argues that Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is a Western imposition, as it considers midnight as the start of the day rather than sunrise. This calculation is deemed inaccurate. Ujjain, located on the Tropic of Cancer, is scientifically and astronomically significant.
