Sri Lanka Cricket Announces New Appointment

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has officially appointed Vikram Rathour, a former Indian cricketer, as the batting coach for their men's national team in preparation for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. The organization released a statement confirming this new role.


Details of the Appointment and Duration

Rathour's role is on a consultancy basis, primarily aimed at gearing up the team for the ICC Men's T20I World Cup scheduled for 2026. He is a former international player who has represented India in both Test and One-Day formats. His coaching duties will commence on January 18, 2026, and he will be with the team until March 10, 2026.


Coaching Experience of Vikram Rathour

Previously, Rathour held the position of Batting Coach for the Indian Men's Team across all formats from September 2019 until July 2024. During his tenure, India achieved victory in the ICC T20 World Cup.


Coaching Credentials and Current Engagement

Vikram Rathour holds several coaching qualifications, including BCCI Level 3, Cricket Australia Level 3, and England & Wales Cricket Board Level 1. Currently, he is serving as the Lead Assistant Coach for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.


Sri Lanka's T20 World Cup Journey

As co-hosts of the tournament alongside India, Sri Lanka is placed in Group B, which includes the 2021 champions Australia, Ireland, Oman, and Zimbabwe. Their first match will be against Ireland on February 8 in Colombo.
