Vijay's Party Confident of Winning Tamil Nadu Elections Amid Exit Poll Predictions
TVK's Optimism for Tamil Nadu's Future Government
Buoyed by exit poll forecasts, Vijay's political party, Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), is optimistic about forming the next government in Tamil Nadu. Voting took place in a single phase on April 23. The party has also dismissed any potential alliances with the AIADMK and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) post-election. TVK asserts that Vijay will be the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, promising visionary governance for the state.
TVK's Ambitious Goals and Predictions
During a press conference on Saturday, K.A. Sengottaiyan, the chief coordinator of TVK, expressed confidence that there would be no scenario without a majority. He stated, "We aim to secure between 180 to 200 seats." Sengottaiyan emphasized that Vijay's leadership would bring a new era to Tamil Nadu, predicting a historic victory in the 2026 elections. He noted the challenges faced by the party and their resilience against numerous opponents, with the results set to be revealed on May 4.
Exit Poll Insights and Predictions
Most exit polls suggest that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is likely to return to power in Tamil Nadu. While Vijay's party is expected to gain some ground, the likelihood of a significant victory appears low. However, two exit polls—Axis My India and Today's Chanakya—indicate that DMK could emerge as a kingmaker in the state. According to Axis My India, TVK is projected to win between 98 to 120 seats, while Today's Chanakya estimates around 63 seats, with a possible margin of 11 seats.
Low Chances for AIADMK-led NDA
The exit polls also suggest that the AIADMK-led NDA has slim chances of regaining power in Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, voting for all 234 seats in the state occurred on April 23, with over 85% voter turnout. The counting of votes will be conducted by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on May 4.
