Vijay's Political Aspirations


On Sunday, actor and politician Vijay declared his intention to run for election in the Perambur and Trichy East Assembly constituencies during the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.


As the leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam party, this will mark Vijay's first foray into electoral politics, with the elections scheduled for April 23 and the vote counting set for May 4.


In Perambur, he will compete against RD Shekar from the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). Meanwhile, in Trichy East, his opponent will be DMK candidate Inigo Irudayaraj.


During a gathering of party officials in Chennai, Vijay also revealed that N Anand, the party's general secretary, will contest from T Nagar, while treasurer Venkat Ramanan will run from Mylapore.


Additionally, party leader VS Babu is set to challenge Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin in Kolathur, and another leader, Selvam, will face Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin in Chepauk.
