Chennai: On Monday, actor-turned-politician Vijay officially submitted his nomination papers for the Perambur Assembly constituency, marking a pivotal moment in his political career as Tamil Nadu approaches its Assembly elections.

The president of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) presented his nomination to the Returning Officer at Dr. Ambedkar Government Arts College in Vyasarpadi, accompanied by prominent party figures such as General Secretary N. Anand and Joint General Secretary C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar.

The event drew an impressive turnout, with thousands of TVK supporters, Vijay's fans, and local residents gathering along the main routes to Vyasarpadi and outside the college well ahead of his arrival.

This enthusiastic crowd demonstrated the increasing political traction of the TVK, which is making its first electoral appearance in the state.

As Vijay's campaign vehicle navigated through the area, throngs of people rushed to catch a glimpse of the beloved actor-politician.

This surge in attendance resulted in significant traffic delays in various parts of Vyasarpadi, prompting a substantial police presence to manage the crowds and maintain order.

At one point, traffic came to a halt near a signal when some motorists stopped to take selfies as Vijay's convoy paused briefly.

Although this disruption was short-lived, it did cause minor delays before traffic resumed its normal flow.

Insiders from the party characterized the nomination day as a demonstration of strength, underscoring the grassroots enthusiasm surrounding Vijay's foray into politics.

With Perambur being one of the most closely monitored constituencies in Chennai, Vijay's candidacy is anticipated to introduce a fresh dynamic to the electoral race.
