Vijay's Strong Critique of DMK Government

Vijay, the founder of the Tamilaga Vetrikazhagam (TVK) and a prominent actor-politician, launched a fierce attack on the DMK government regarding 'custodial deaths' during a rally in Tamil Nadu on Sunday. He accused the DMK administration of transforming from a 'hollow and merely promotional' government into a 'pathetic apology-model government.'

Addressing the TVK protest, Vijay highlighted the case of Ajith Kumar, a victim of custodial torture from a humble background, and noted that the Chief Minister had apologized to the victim's family, which he deemed appropriate.

Dressed in black, Vijay held a placard that read, 'Sorry Vendam, Neethi Vendam (We want justice, not an apology).' He questioned whether Chief Minister Stalin had apologized to the families of all 24 victims of custodial torture that resulted in deaths since the DMK took power in 2021. He urged the government, 'Please apologize to all of them; have you compensated the families of all 24 victims? Please ensure they receive compensation.'

Vijay also criticized the DMK government's approach, recalling that when the Sathankulam case (in which police allegedly tortured and killed P. Jayaraj and his son J. Benix) was handed over to the CBI by the previous AIADMK government in 2020, Stalin labeled it an insult to the Tamil Nadu police.

He expressed disbelief that the DMK government recently referred Ajith Kumar's custodial death case to the CBI, questioning if this too was not an insult to the police. He asserted that both situations were identical.

Furthermore, Vijay questioned, 'Why are you hiding behind the CBI?' He described the CBI as merely a puppet of the RSS and BJP. He alleged that the DMK government was 'afraid' of a special investigation team requested by his party, TVK, under judicial oversight, which is why they were seeking refuge with the central government. He pointed out that the court had raised questions regarding several 'atrocities,' including the sexual harassment of a student from Anna University and the torture of Ajith Kumar in custody.

Vijay stated, 'If the court has to intervene and ask questions about everything, what is your purpose? What is the role of the government and the Chief Minister's office? Regardless of the questions, there will be no answers. The government can only respond if it has answers, and in this case, it has none.' He mocked the DMK government, claiming, 'Your maximum response is an apology, and the once hollow, promotional DMK government has now turned into an apology-model government.'

Vijay warned that the 'incompetent DMK government' must rectify the law and order situation before its term ends. Otherwise, he asserted, 'We will force you to do so, alongside the people.'
