Vietnamese President's First State Visit to India

On Tuesday afternoon, To Lam, the General Secretary of Vietnam's President, arrived in the capital of India. This marks his inaugural state visit to India. Upon his arrival in New Delhi, he received a warm welcome, including a meeting with Minister Nityanand Rai. The spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, shared the news of his arrival on social media, highlighting that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and Vietnam. This visit is expected to further strengthen the multifaceted and robust bilateral relations. Earlier today, Bihar's Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary warmly welcomed President To Lam upon his arrival in Gaya. He is in India for a three-day state visit.

The Chief Minister remarked that this visit would aid in enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations. In his address, Chaudhary expressed his heartfelt welcome to President To Lam upon his arrival in Gaya, a city rich in spirituality, culture, and heritage. President To Lam, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, will remain in India until May 7. This is his first visit to India since taking office.


According to the official schedule, a formal welcome for the Vietnamese leader will take place on May 6 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Following this, there will be high-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where both leaders will engage in extensive discussions on various aspects of bilateral relations, as well as regional and global issues of mutual interest. President Droupadi Murmu is also expected to meet with the President, along with several other senior leaders. The Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed that President To Lam's itinerary includes visits to Bodh Gaya and Mumbai.
