VHP Condemns Violence Against Minorities in Bangladesh, Plans Nationwide Protests
VHP's Strong Response to Violence in Bangladesh
Alok Kumar, the International Executive President of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), expressed strong condemnation on Monday regarding the violence against minorities in Bangladesh. He stated that the Chief Advisor of the interim government, Mohammad Yunus, is challenging India's sovereignty. The VHP emphasized that those who threaten India's sovereignty, secularism, and principles of religious harmony must face a decisive response. In light of this, the VHP has announced plans to hold protests across every district in the country on December 23 and 24.
Concerns Over Recent Incidents
Discussing the murder of a young Hindu named Deepu Chandra Das in Mymensingh, Kumar referenced reports indicating that the victim merely stated that all religions are equal. He questioned whether such a statement could be deemed blasphemous. Kumar noted, 'I have seen reports suggesting that Deepu only claimed that all religions are equal. If this is considered blasphemy, it poses a challenge to India's secularism and religious harmony.' He further clarified that it was later confirmed that Deepu did not make any blasphemous statements. 'If that is the case, why was he killed? Bangladesh must provide answers.'
Political Context and Implications
In the context of the murder of political leader Sharif Osman Hadi, the VHP's Executive President questioned whether Chief Advisor Yunus agrees with the actions taken. He pointed out that Yunus attended Hadi's funeral, during which a map of Greater Bangladesh was displayed, encompassing northeastern India. Hadi, a student activist, was killed, and prior to his death, he showcased a map that included parts of northeastern India, West Bengal, and Bihar. Kumar asked, 'Is Mohammad Yunus supporting this? As a national leader, he is challenging India's sovereignty, and a proper response is warranted.'
