Chakravarthy's Magical Spell at Eden Gardens

The enigmatic spinner Varun Chakravarthy has been a revelation this season, and the reaction from KKR co-owner Juhi Chawla in the clubhouse perfectly encapsulates his impact. The Rajasthan Royals have struggled significantly throughout the tournament, and their performance at Eden Gardens today was no exception.

Chakravarthy entered the game and quickly added to the troubles of the RR batting order, taking two wickets in just three balls, which severely hampered the opposition's chase. In the eighth over, he deceived Dhruv Jurel with a sharp googly. Bowled at 93 kmph, the delivery pitched around the fifth stump and spun back sharply. Jurel, expecting a standard leg-break, misjudged it entirely and was caught off guard. He attempted to defend towards cover, but the ball slipped past his bat and pad, crashing into the stumps, leaving him with a golden duck. Varun celebrated as the scoreboard showed 71/4.

Just two deliveries later, he struck again with an even slower googly at 86 kmph. Wanindu Hasaranga, facing only his second ball, fell victim to the subtle spin and deceptive length. The ball pitched around the fourth stump and zipped in off the surface. Hasaranga attempted to drive through the covers but misplayed his shot, missing the ball entirely as it clipped the off stump. With this, Varun secured his second wicket, leaving the opposition reeling at 71/5.
