On Saturday, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla expressed his admiration for the inclusion of 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the Indian cricket team. This selection is for the upcoming tours to Ireland and England, as well as the Asian Games in Japan, marking a pivotal moment in the young batter's career.
Sooryavanshi's selection makes him the youngest player ever to join the national team, surpassing a record held by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar for 36 years. Tendulkar debuted for India against Pakistan in 1989 at the age of 16, a record that stood the test of time.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had an outstanding season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, where he not only emerged as a star but also dominated the tournament. The Bihar-born player swept the post-season awards, winning accolades such as Most Valuable Player (MVP), Emerging Player of the Season, Super Striker, the Orange Cap, and Super Sixes of the Season.
Playing for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), he finished as the highest run-scorer with an impressive total of 776 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 237.30. His consistent performances included a record-setting 72 sixes, allowing him to break several long-standing IPL records and establish himself as a promising talent in Indian cricket.
