At just 15 years old, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has made history by being selected for the Indian cricket team for the upcoming tours to Ireland and England, as well as the Asian Games. This remarkable feat makes him the youngest player ever to be included in the national squad, surpassing a record that stood for 36 years, previously held by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.
Sachin Tendulkar debuted for India against Pakistan in 1989 at the age of 16, a record that remained unbroken for decades.
Outstanding IPL 2026 Performance
Sooryavanshi had an exceptional season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, where he not only emerged as a star but also dominated the tournament.
He received multiple accolades at the post-season awards, including Most Valuable Player (MVP), Emerging Player of the Season, Super Striker, the Orange Cap, and Super Sixes of the Season.
Playing for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), he scored a remarkable 776 runs at an impressive strike rate of 237.30, making him the highest run-scorer of the tournament.
His consistent performance included a record-setting 72 sixes, allowing him to break several long-standing IPL records and establish himself as a promising talent in Indian cricket.
Upcoming International Matches
India is set to face Ireland in two T20 matches in Belfast on June 26 and 28, followed by a series of five T20Is in England from July 1 to 11.
The men's cricket event at the 2026 Asian Games will feature T20 matches from September 24 to October 3, with 10 teams including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Japan, Nepal, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Oman competing for the gold medal.
The tournament will kick off with preliminary qualifying rounds from September 24 to 26, followed by quarter-finals on September 28 and 29. The semi-finals are scheduled for October 1, with the bronze-medal playoff and gold-medal final taking place on October 3.
