Bribery Arrests in Haridwar
On Friday, the Uttarakhand Vigilance Department apprehended Shyam Arya, the District Supply Officer of Haridwar, along with his personal assistant, Gaurav Sharma, while they were accepting a bribe of ₹50,000.
The Vigilance Department revealed that they had received ongoing reports about the corrupt practices of this officer and his assistant linked to the Haridwar District Supply Office.
After verifying a complaint from a ration dealer, the vigilance team set up a trap and caught both individuals in the act of accepting the bribe.
The department indicated that both suspects are currently undergoing thorough interrogation at the Haridwar District Supply Office, where records and other documents are also being meticulously examined.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized a strict zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, instructing vigilance and other investigative agencies, including the Special Task Force (STF), to act freely and decisively.
He noted that a continuous campaign against corruption has been conducted in the state over the past years, which has strengthened public trust in the governance and administration.
The Chief Minister urged citizens to report any instances of corruption without hesitation, assuring that the identity of complainants will be kept confidential and prompt, fair action will be taken by the government.
