Opening Day Highlights
The inaugural day will feature two women's matches: Pithoragarh Hurricanes will compete against Dehradun Warriors at 11:00 AM, followed by Bageshwar Aerial facing Mussoorie Queens at 3:00 PM. The day's cricket will culminate in a grand opening ceremony in the evening, featuring Bollywood star Vaani Kapoor and performances that celebrate Uttarakhand's rich musical heritage, including artists like Karishma Shah and Ruhaan Bhardwaj from Garhwal.
Significance of UPL
Kiran Verma, Secretary of the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU), emphasized the UPL's growth as a vital platform for cricket in the region, noting that this edition will blend sports with local artistry, embodying the essence of Uttarakhand.
Mahim Verma, former Vice-President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), highlighted the UPL's role in providing a structured T20 environment for local cricketers, while also celebrating the state's cultural richness during the opening ceremony.
