Chief Minister's Commitment to Justice

On Saturday, Uttarakhand's Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that the state government has recommended a CBI investigation into the Ankita Bhandari case. This decision takes into account the emotional turmoil faced by her parents after the tragic loss of their daughter.

Speaking to a news outlet in Dehradun, Dhami shared that he had met with Ankita's parents, who have endured significant hardships following their daughter's death. He emphasized the importance of respecting their feelings and confirmed the recommendation for a CBI inquiry.

During the meeting at the Chief Minister's residence in Dehradun, Dhami assured Ankita's grieving parents, Virendra Singh Bhandari and Soni Devi, of the government's unwavering support in ensuring justice for their daughter.

Government's Assurance of Support

According to a press release from the Chief Minister's Office, Dhami listened attentively to the parents' concerns and feelings regarding the case. He reassured them that the state government stands firmly with the victim's family.

The Chief Minister reiterated that securing justice in this matter is the government's top priority. He also promised to provide all possible assistance to the family and to take positive action regarding their requests.

Legal Developments in the Case

In a related development, the Delhi High Court has issued an injunction against several defendants, including the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), preventing them from publishing or broadcasting social media content that allegedly links BJP leader Dushyant Kumar Gautam to the Ankita Bhandari murder case. The court found a prima facie case of defamation.

This controversy revolves around the murder of 19-year-old Ankita Bhandari, who worked as a receptionist at a resort in Uttarakhand. Her body was discovered in a canal in September 2022.
