Uttarakhand Government Launches Employment Cell for Agniveers

Significant Initiative for Agniveers' Future

The Uttarakhand government is set to take a major step to secure the future of Agniveers. An Agniveer Employment Cell (AEC) will be established in the state to assist those returning after completing four years of military service with job placements and career guidance. The aim is to leverage the training, discipline, and experience gained in the military for their civilian lives.

Job Opportunities in Five Key Sectors

Through the Agniveer Employment Cell, former Agniveers will have access to job opportunities in five primary sectors. These include government positions, central security forces, private companies, tourism and disaster management, as well as self-employment. The government will also provide guidance to help them choose the right career path.

Connecting Employment with Both Public and Private Sectors

The employment cell will link Agniveers with job opportunities in the police department, forest department, disaster management, and various private firms. Additionally, assistance will be provided in finding jobs that match their qualifications across different sectors.

First Batch to Return in December 2026

The first batch of Agniveers recruited under the Agnipath scheme will complete their four-year service on December 31, 2026. The Uttarakhand government plans to have the employment cell fully operational before this date, ensuring that returning Agniveers receive career support immediately.

Online Registration and Skill Bank Creation

Every Agniveer returning from service will undergo online registration. Their training, technical skills, and other competencies will be recorded in a digital skill bank, facilitating easier job searches based on their capabilities.

Preparation for Employment in Over 50 Sectors

The state government is preparing to offer job opportunities in over 50 sectors, including tourism, hospitality, security services, logistics, infrastructure, agriculture, sports, manufacturing, and disaster management. The employment cell will act as a bridge between government departments, skill development agencies, and private companies.

Monitoring by the Chief Minister's Office

The entire initiative will be monitored directly by the Chief Minister's office to ensure effective coordination among all departments. The Uttarakhand government has already announced a 10% horizontal reservation for Agniveers in state government jobs and will prioritize them in recruitment for the Uttarakhand police and central security forces.

Understanding the Agnipath Scheme

The Agnipath scheme recruits youth aged between 17.5 to 21 years into the army, navy, and air force for a four-year term. After completing their service, 25% of Agniveers will be retained in the regular army, while 75% will return to civilian life. Therefore, arranging employment and career opportunities for them is a top priority for the government.
