Significant Initiative for Economic Support

The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, has announced a major initiative aimed at providing economic and social security to impoverished and labor families in the state. This move is being hailed as a substantial financial support for workers in the region's history. The government has eliminated middlemen and brokers, opting instead for a 'Direct Benefit Transfer' (DBT) system that sends financial assistance directly to the bank accounts of workers.

Over 24,000 Workers Benefit Directly

Under various welfare schemes, more than 24,000 workers have received direct financial transfers. According to government data, in the past year, ₹930.6 million has been transferred to the bank accounts of workers and their families, significantly easing the financial burden for thousands.

₹110 Million Distributed to 4,400 Workers

During an event attended by Chief Minister Dhami, approximately ₹110 million was directly transferred to the accounts of over 4,400 workers through the Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. This entire amount was transferred promptly via the DBT system.

Government's Role in Providing Essential Support

This financial assistance has been tailored to meet the everyday and specific needs of workers. It includes funds for the marriage of daughters from labor families, assistance in the event of an unexpected death, maternity benefits for female workers, and scholarships for children's education. This timely support has reached thousands of families without bureaucratic delays.

Support for Unorganized Sector Workers

Workers engaged in construction often belong to the unorganized sector, where their earnings are not fixed. Situations such as illness, accidents, weddings, children's education, or death can lead to significant financial crises. To address these challenges, the Uttarakhand government has strengthened its welfare schemes.

Eliminating Bureaucratic Hurdles

Considering the mountainous and remote areas of Uttarakhand, CM Dhami has instructed officials to ensure that workers no longer need to visit distant government offices to avail benefits or register for schemes. Instead, the administration will reach out directly to the workers.

Special Camps at Workplaces

To facilitate this, the government plans to set up 'Workplace Welfare Camps' near construction sites. These camps will provide registration services, access to government schemes, health check-ups, and essential supplies to migrant and local workers in remote areas, saving them both time and travel costs.

Transforming Lives with ₹930 Million

In the past year, the Uttarakhand government has set a new record in labor welfare. Within just one year, the Dhami administration has deposited a total of ₹930.6 million into the accounts of beneficiaries through various schemes. This substantial assistance has strengthened the financial status of 24,323 registered workers and their families, eliminating the need for high-interest loans from moneylenders during crises.

Digital System for Transparency

To ensure the effective implementation of these schemes, technology is being utilized. A digital system is in place to accurately identify beneficiaries and facilitate fund transfers, ensuring that government assistance reaches only the genuine and deserving workers. Experts believe that this digital oversight has curbed fraud and ensured proper utilization of government funds.

Key Statistics

A total of 24,323 workers have benefited from various schemes, with ₹930.6 million distributed in financial aid. Recently, over 4,400 workers received approximately ₹110 million, all transferred directly to their bank accounts.

Types of Assistance Available

These schemes are designed to support labor families during times of crisis and need, providing financial aid for daughters' marriages, assistance in the event of a family member's death, maternity benefits for female workers, and educational expenses for children. The primary goal is to ensure that financial constraints do not jeopardize the future of any impoverished family.

Preventing Fraud through Digital Verification

The Dhami government is committed to implementing these schemes with integrity. The Chief Minister has emphasized that every rupee of government funds should reach the rightful workers. To achieve this, modern technology and a stringent digital verification system have been introduced in the labor department. Regulations have been refined to prevent any fraudulent activities, and awareness campaigns are being conducted in districts to ensure that no deserving worker is left uninformed.
