Uttarakhand CM Welcomes Kanwar Pilgrims with Health Initiatives
Welcoming the Kanwar Pilgrims
On Tuesday, Uttarakhand's Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami greeted the Kanwar pilgrims arriving for the annual Kanwar Yatra in Haridwar. He showered flower petals on the devotees from a helicopter and honored five pilgrims by washing their feet.
Additionally, CM Dhami inaugurated a 'Chief Minister Health Service Camp' at the Alaknanda Hotel complex, where he reviewed the medical facilities and arrangements made for the pilgrims. He interacted with Kanwar devotees from various states and served them meals.
Commitment to Safe Pilgrimage
During the honor ceremony, CM Dhami emphasized the Uttarakhand government's commitment to ensuring that every Shiva devotee's pilgrimage to the land of the gods is safe, convenient, and dignified. He remarked that the Kanwar Yatra is not merely a religious event but a grand celebration of India's eternal traditions, social harmony, and spiritual consciousness. The state government is continuously working with all relevant departments to ensure the successful organization of this pilgrimage.
A Tradition of Service
The Chief Minister reflected on his privilege of serving Shiva devotees during the Kanwar Yatra over the past five years. He described Lord Shiva as a source of faith, strength, and devotion for millions. Despite challenging conditions, devotees undertake long journeys, chanting 'Bam Bam Bhole,' showcasing their unwavering devotion. He noted that the Kanwar Yatra symbolizes discipline, service, dedication, and social unity.
Record Participation This Year
CM Dhami reported that over one crore Kanwar pilgrims successfully collected holy Ganga water and proceeded towards their destinations this year. He highlighted the unprecedented efforts being made under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership to preserve and develop India's cultural heritage and sacred sites. Projects like the Kashi Vishwanath Dham Corridor, Mahakal Lok, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, and the reconstruction of Kedarnath Dham are giving Indian culture a new global identity.
Safety Measures for Pilgrims
Referencing the 2013 Kedarnath disaster, the Chief Minister stated that under Prime Minister Modi's guidance, Kedarnath Dham has been transformed into a magnificent and divine pilgrimage site through extensive reconstruction. Facilities such as the Faith Path, Saraswati Ghat, and housing for priests have been developed. He further mentioned that proposed projects like the Ganga Corridor and Sharda Corridor in Haridwar will provide new momentum to the state's development and religious tourism.
The Chief Minister stressed that the safety of pilgrims is the government's top priority. He announced the deployment of CCTV surveillance, drone monitoring, ambulance services, health camps, and emergency response systems along pilgrimage routes. He urged devotees to maintain discipline throughout their journey, respect the sanctity of the pilgrimage, and adhere to religious traditions.
