Commitment to Justice

On Wednesday, Uttarakhand's Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reaffirmed the state government's commitment to support the family of Ankita Bhandari in their quest for justice regarding the 2022 murder case. He referenced recent audio recordings and social media posts that implicated BJP leader Dushyant Gautam in the incident, reiterating that he had recommended a CBI investigation into the matter.

Public Address in Uttarkashi

While addressing a public gathering in Uttarkashi, CM Dhami emphasized that his administration has acted swiftly and decisively in this case, ensuring that those responsible face legal consequences. Following the emergence of misleading audio recordings, he personally met with Ankita's parents and, at their request, decided to advocate for a CBI inquiry.

Support for the Victim's Family

He further stated that both he and his government have consistently stood by Ankita's family to ensure they receive justice, pledging to continue their support with sensitivity and dedication. The government is committed to preserving the culture, dignity, and identity of Uttarakhand, referred to as Devbhoomi.

Court Ruling on Defamation

Earlier, on January 7, the Delhi High Court prohibited the publication or dissemination of social media content linking Dushyant Kumar Gautam to the Ankita Bhandari murder case, involving several accused from the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The court found a prima facie case of defamation.

Government's Response to Grief

The Uttarakhand government has taken into account the emotional distress faced by Ankita Bhandari's parents and the challenges they have encountered since their daughter's tragic loss, leading to the recommendation for a CBI investigation in this 2022 case. CM Dhami also met with the grieving parents, assuring them of the state government's unwavering support and commitment to ensuring justice.
