Strengthening Public Transport in Uttarakhand

On Thursday, Uttarakhand's Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated 100 new buses for the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC), marking a significant advancement in the state's public transportation infrastructure as the New Year approaches. The buses were flagged off from the Chief Minister's camp office.


During the event, the Chief Minister dedicated 10 air-conditioned buses and two sleeper buses to the public. Additionally, he unveiled a commemorative publication titled "Anavart" from the transport corporation and a calendar focused on road safety. Employees of the transport corporation, who have shown dedication and integrity in their duties despite challenging circumstances, were also honored.


Dhami emphasized that the introduction of these state-of-the-art buses would significantly enhance the public transport system in Uttarakhand. He stated that this initiative would ensure safe, convenient, and affordable travel for passengers, while also boosting the state's economic, social, and tourism activities.


Importance of Reliable Transport in Hilly Regions

The Chief Minister highlighted the necessity of a robust and dependable transport system in hilly regions like Uttarakhand, where geographical conditions can be challenging. He reiterated the government's commitment to modernizing transport services and improving passenger amenities across the state. Senior officials from the transport department and the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation were present at the event.


Support for Veterans

Earlier, on Wednesday, Chief Minister Dhami participated in a New Year event for ex-servicemen held in Hathibadkala, Dehradun. He remarked that Uttarakhand is a land of brave soldiers and ex-servicemen, and the state government remains sensitive and proactive regarding their honor, rehabilitation, and welfare. On Tuesday, the Uttarakhand government approved the promotion of nine IPS officers during a meeting of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC).
