Significant Increase in Gallantry Grant

As Kargil Vijay Diwas approaches, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced a substantial enhancement in the gallantry grant for Param Vir Chakra awardees, raising it to ₹1.5 crore from the previous ₹50 lakh. Additionally, these awardees will continue to receive an annual grant of ₹3 lakh.

This announcement was made during a Soldiers’ Honour Ceremony in Khatima, commemorating the death anniversary of his late father, Subedar Sher Singh Dhami. The Chief Minister approved this proposal from the Department of Sainik Welfare.

The increase of ₹1 crore in the gallantry grant underscores the Chief Minister's commitment to the welfare of soldiers. Prior to June 2022, the grant for Param Vir Chakra recipients was set at ₹30 lakh. Following a Cabinet decision on June 10, 2022, it was raised to ₹50 lakh, with the official order issued on July 14, 2022. Now, CM Dhami has further elevated this amount to ₹1.5 crore.

Pushkar Singh Dhami stated, “The security of our nation's borders is ensured by the bravery, courage, and sacrifices of our soldiers. It is the responsibility of every citizen to honor their dedication and sacrifice. Uttarakhand is not just Devbhoomi (Land of the Gods) but also Veerbhoomi (Land of the Brave), having produced numerous courageous soldiers. The lives of soldiers and their families exemplify discipline, sacrifice, and service. The state government remains dedicated to the welfare of soldiers and their families, consistently making impactful decisions to protect their interests.”
