Cabinet Expansion Ceremony in Uttarakhand

On Friday, Uttarakhand's Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expanded his cabinet. The oath-taking ceremony for the new ministers took place at Lok Bhawan. Newly appointed cabinet ministers include Madan Kaushik (Haridwar), Khajan Das (Rajpur Road), Bharat Singh Chaudhary (Rudraprayag), Ram Singh Kaira (Bhimtal), and Pradeep Batra (Rudki). Following the swearing-in of these five leaders, Chief Minister Dhami expressed his congratulations to all the esteemed individuals entrusted with the responsibilities of the council.

Dhami further extended his best wishes to the new ministers, noting their long-standing involvement in political and social spheres. He emphasized that together, they would contribute to realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a 'Developed India,' highlighting the significant role these individuals would play in achieving this goal.

After taking the oath, BJP legislator Madan Kaushik stated, 'Today, I have taken the oath of office as a minister. It is my duty to fulfill any responsibilities assigned by the party, whether related to the organization or the government. Whenever I have been entrusted with a responsibility, I have completed it... We will work swiftly for the development of the state.'

He also mentioned that preparations for the grand Kumbh Mela are underway, promising a magnificent event. Ram Singh Kaira remarked, 'Today, I took the oath of office under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Our priority is to serve the people of the state... We will work with utmost sincerity... Our focus will also be on ensuring that development reaches every village and decisions are made in the interest of the youth.'

Khajan Das expressed gratitude to the BJP's central leadership and Chief Minister Dhami for their trust in him.

Following the passing of Social Welfare and Transport Minister Chandan Ramdas in April 2023, the number of ministers in the cabinet had decreased to eight. This number further dropped to seven after the resignation of Parliamentary Affairs and Finance Minister Prem Chand Agarwal last year. The maximum number of ministers, including the Chief Minister, in Uttarakhand is capped at twelve.
