Uttar Pradesh's Electoral Roll Released


Lucknow: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Navdeep Rinwa announced on Tuesday that the draft electoral roll for Uttar Pradesh has been released following a special intensive revision (SIR) process. Out of the previously listed 15.44 crore voters, 12.55 crore have been retained.


Approximately 2.89 crore voters, which accounts for 18.70 percent, were excluded from the draft due to reasons such as death, permanent relocation, or duplicate registrations, Rinwa explained during a press briefing.


He further mentioned that the Election Commission conducted a door-to-door enumeration campaign, where forms were filled out and signed by voters or their family members.


Initially set to conclude on December 11, the exercise was extended by an additional 15 days after it was observed that nearly 2.97 crore names were being omitted from the draft list.
