Uttar Pradesh Schools Closed Until January 1 Due to Severe Cold
School Closures Announced Amid Severe Cold
In response to the extreme cold weather, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the closure of all schools up to the 12th grade in Uttar Pradesh until January 1. According to a statement from the state government, this directive applies to schools under all educational boards, including ICSE, CBSE, and the UP Board. The Chief Minister emphasized that the safety of children is paramount during this cold wave, and any negligence will not be tolerated.
Government's Commitment to Public Safety
The Chief Minister has instructed senior officials in the administration to personally assess the ground realities in their respective areas. He stressed the need for adequate arrangements for bonfires and blankets at public places in every district, considering the harsh weather conditions. Adityanath assured that the state government is fully aware of the difficulties faced by the public due to the cold and is committed to ensuring that no poor or needy individual suffers during this period.
Resource Allocation for Winter Relief
Adityanath claimed that sufficient funds have been allocated to all districts for blanket distribution, night shelters, and bonfire arrangements. After inspecting two night shelters in Gorakhpur, he informed reporters that the district administration has been directed to provide adequate bedding, blankets, cleanliness, and food for the homeless.
Empowering District Officials
Given the severe cold conditions, district officials have been granted the authority to close schools and declare holidays if necessary. Additionally, they have been instructed to conduct online classes in unavoidable situations.
Comprehensive Arrangements Across Uttar Pradesh
The Gorakhpur district administration stated that Yogi Adityanath visited night shelters near TP Nagar and Dharmshala Market to review the facilities and check on the residents. The Chief Minister noted that Uttar Pradesh, along with northern India, is experiencing a severe cold wave, and the government has made extensive arrangements across all districts. Elected representatives and officials are ensuring the distribution of blankets and warm clothing, lighting bonfires in public areas, and the smooth operation of night shelters.
