New Policy for Wheat Sales in Uttar Pradesh

According to an official announcement made on Monday, farmers in Uttar Pradesh are now permitted to sell wheat at government procurement centers without the need for mandatory online registration. This decision aims to alleviate the challenges faced by farmers during the selling process. The statement clarified that the digital system known as 'Farmer Registry,' which was previously used for verifying farmers' identities and their crops, is no longer compulsory.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed all district magistrates to implement this order immediately. Earlier this year, the Farmer Registry was made mandatory for selling wheat at government procurement centers at the minimum support price (MSP). However, many farmers were unable to complete their registration, forcing them to sell their produce to middlemen at lower prices.

Considering these difficulties, the Chief Minister intervened and relaxed the regulations. Under the revised order, farmers can now sell wheat at procurement centers without registration, similar to previous years. Yogi Adityanath emphasized that farmers should be able to sell their wheat as before and directed officials to ensure there are no inconveniences at the procurement centers. Given the ongoing extreme heat, he also instructed officials to provide drinking water, fans, shade, and other essential facilities for the farmers.
