Chief Minister's Urgent Directives Amidst Severe Heat
In the midst of intense heat in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued strict instructions to officials on Thursday to remain vigilant regarding relief and rescue operations. According to the Chief Minister's orders, district magistrates, health departments, electricity departments, and relief agencies must maintain a high level of alertness. He emphasized that senior officials should closely monitor hospitals, drinking water supply, and electricity services, ensuring adequate arrangements for treating patients affected by heatstroke in government hospitals.
Public Safety Measures Encouraged
The Chief Minister has urged the public to take precautions against heatstroke. He advised paying special attention to the care of children and the elderly, wearing loose-fitting cotton or khadi clothing, and avoiding any careless actions that could pose a fire risk. Furthermore, he instructed officials to focus on preventing fatigue, dehydration, and heat-related illnesses among staff.
Weather Forecast and Rising Temperatures
According to the India Meteorological Department, there is a likelihood of heatwave conditions in some areas of Uttar Pradesh over the next 24 hours. Amidst the extreme heat, Banda recorded a temperature of 46.4 degrees Celsius, making it the hottest location in the country. The meteorological department noted that on Sunday afternoon, temperatures exceeded 40 degrees Celsius in several areas of the state, with Jhansi at 44.6 degrees Celsius, Prayagraj at 44.5 degrees Celsius, Hamirpur at 44.2 degrees, Orai at 43.8 degrees, Sultanpur at 43.3 degrees, and Varanasi at 43.4 degrees Celsius.
Dry Weather and Heatwave Alerts
The department has indicated that dry weather is expected across the state, with a strong possibility of heatwave conditions in certain areas. The weather warning issued on Sunday highlighted that maximum temperatures in Prayagraj, Ghazipur, Orai, and Agra were above normal, while minimum temperatures in Etawah and Meerut also exceeded normal levels.
