Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Accuses Opposition of Conspiracy Over Ram Temple Donations
Allegations of Political Conspiracy
On Friday, Brajesh Pathak, the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, claimed that the controversy surrounding donations for the Ram Temple is part of a conspiracy orchestrated by the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress. He questioned why there has been no inquiry into the funds collected for the Babri Masjid.
During a press interaction in Mirzapur, Pathak expressed his frustration over questions regarding the Ram Temple donations, stating, 'Donations were also collected for the Babri Masjid. What happened to that money? No one is asking about it. The SP and Congress are merely engaging in appeasement politics and attacking Sanatan Dharma to secure Muslim votes.'
Police Investigation and Arrests
Just a day prior, the Ayodhya police registered a case based on a recommendation from a Special Investigation Team (SIT) regarding the alleged embezzlement of donations for the Ram Temple. Eight individuals have been arrested in connection with this case.
Opposition parties have alleged that only lower-level employees are being implicated while senior officials are being shielded. In response to these claims, Pathak assured that the police would conduct a fair investigation and emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.
Call for Accountability
'Are you in the police or are we?' Pathak challenged, asserting that the police would ensure an impartial inquiry. He also urged reporters to question opposition leaders about the donations collected for the Babri Masjid, reiterating his accusation that the SP and Congress are indulging in appeasement politics.
Furthermore, the Deputy Chief Minister alleged that illegally operated madrasas in border districts are being funded for terrorist activities. He stated that the state government is investigating these institutions, shutting down illegally run madrasas, and sending those responsible to jail.
