CM Yogi Adityanath Engages with Kanwar Pilgrims

On Saturday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath showered flower petals on Kanwar pilgrims and devotees of Lord Shiva in Meerut while assessing the ongoing Kanwar Yatra arrangements. Earlier that day, he conducted an aerial survey of the Meerut region via helicopter to evaluate the preparations for the pilgrimage.

During a press conference in Meerut, the Chief Minister noted that millions of devotees are participating in the Kanwar Yatra, making their way to sacred Shiva temples for 'Jalabhishek' (water offering). He expressed optimism that approximately 40 to 45 million devotees would join the pilgrimage by the time of Sawan Shivratri, assuring that the state government is fully prepared to ensure their safety.

CM Yogi highlighted that during the holy month of Sawan, Kanwar pilgrims are traveling from Haridwar's 'Har Ki Pauri' carrying sacred water to their destinations. He stated, 'I believe that by Sawan Shivratri, 40 to 45 million devotees will bring holy water from Haridwar to perform Jalabhishek at Shiva's temples.' He also shared his experience of showering flower petals on the pilgrims upon arriving in Meerut.

He further welcomed and honored all the Kanwar pilgrims who have joined this sacred journey with deep devotion and enthusiasm. The government is committed to ensuring their safety and providing a warm welcome. Beyond their devotion, these pilgrims exemplify dedication, social unity, equality, and national integrity, transcending caste, region, and boundaries as they embark on this journey dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Significance of the Kanwar Yatra

The annual Kanwar Yatra, held during the month of Sawan, attracts millions of devotees from across the country. This spiritual journey involves offering holy water to Lord Shiva, reflecting the deep faith and devotion of the participants. The month of Sawan holds significant importance in Hinduism, as it is believed to be particularly dear to Lord Shiva. Worship during this month is said to liberate individuals from all hardships. This year, the sacred month of Sawan will commence on July 30 and conclude on August 28.
