Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Praises Youth Skills on World Youth Skills Day
Celebrating Youth Empowerment
On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath commended the youth of Uttar Pradesh. He emphasized that the state's large youth population is not a challenge but rather its greatest asset. The Chief Minister clarified that the government is now equipping these young individuals with skills to transform this demographic into a significant force for economic growth.
Emphasizing Equal Opportunities
Referencing UNESCO's theme for this year, 'Skills for a Shared Future,' Adityanath stated that it signifies ensuring equal opportunities for everyone. He expressed pride in Uttar Pradesh being the most populous state in the country, possessing the largest youth workforce globally. He asserted that by empowering the youth with skills, the state will harness this demographic advantage and guide them towards prosperity.
Critique of Previous Governments
The Chief Minister launched a strong critique against previous administrations, particularly targeting the Samajwadi Party (SP). He noted that prior to 2017, the education system in the state was in disarray, and there was no effective mechanism for skill development. He accused the previous government of fostering an atmosphere of insecurity, where neither women nor businesses felt safe. He highlighted that youth faced an identity crisis and discrimination outside the state due to a lack of job opportunities in Uttar Pradesh.
Corruption in Recruitment Processes
Addressing the issue of corruption in recruitment, the Chief Minister indirectly referred to SP leaders Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav, stating that government jobs were monopolized by a single family. He mocked the 'uncle-nephew' duo, claiming they would seek bribes as soon as job openings were announced, asserting that no work could be done without corruption.
Addressing Historical Challenges
Adityanath expressed regret that despite having fertile land, abundant water resources, and a rich religious heritage, Uttar Pradesh was long labeled as a 'Bimaru' state. He mentioned the Ganges, Yamuna, and Saryu rivers, along with significant religious sites like Ayodhya, Kashi, and Mathura, stating that the reason for the state's prolonged struggles was not its people but the negative mindset of previous governments.
Achievements Since 2017
Detailing the achievements of his government since 2017, the Chief Minister highlighted the establishment of a BrahMos missile manufacturing unit in Lucknow. He noted that despite opposition, the government allocated 200 acres of land for this project at no cost, creating jobs for nearly 500 ITI and engineering students. He attributed the opportunities available to the youth today to political will, mentioning that the sale of BrahMos missiles has also generated approximately ₹65 crores in GST revenue for the government.
