Chief Minister's Directive on Kanwar Yatra
Lucknow, August 6 - Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated on Thursday that the Kanwar Yatra is a grand festival of faith, discipline, and social harmony. He warned that strict action would be taken against any disruptive elements attempting to interfere with its peaceful and organized conduct. According to an official statement, the Chief Minister instructed officials to promptly counter any misleading and false news that could disturb the atmosphere, asserting that disturbances, chaos, and hooliganism during sacred religious events would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Review of Safety Measures and Community Participation
During a video conference, Adityanath reviewed various issues including women's safety, law and order, the Kanwar Yatra, flood conditions, preparations for upcoming festivals, availability of fertilizers, and safety measures for school vehicles. He remarked that at a time when attempts are being made to sow discord in society, the participation of millions in the Kanwar Yatra serves as a powerful example of social harmony. The ADG from Meerut reported that full cooperation is being received from neighboring states, while the police commissioner of Ghaziabad noted that approximately 70,000 Kanwar pilgrims have already passed through the district.
Increased Vigilance for Upcoming Events
With the number of pilgrims expected to rise in the next couple of days, the Chief Minister instructed special vigilance in Bareilly due to the Kanwar Yatra and the Urs of Ala Hazrat. He appreciated the Muslim community for organizing vegetarian food distribution during the Urs, respecting the faith of Shiva devotees, and keeping the event within a limited scope. He described this as a commendable example of social harmony, mutual respect, and sensitivity.
Ongoing Relief Efforts in Flood-Affected Areas
While reviewing relief and rescue operations with district magistrates from eight flood-affected districts including Ballia, Barabanki, and Unnao, the Chief Minister directed that relief efforts should continue with utmost urgency and that there should be no shortage of assistance in the affected areas.
