Cabinet Expansion in Uttar Pradesh

Today marked a significant event in Uttar Pradesh as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expanded his cabinet. During this second cabinet expansion on Sunday, Bhupendra Chaudhary, the former state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), took the oath of office. The oath was administered by Governor Anandiben Patel at a ceremony held at 'Jan Bhawan'.


Hailing from Moradabad, Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary is recognized as a prominent Jat leader in western Uttar Pradesh, known for his active participation in the Ram Mandir movement.

Previously, Chaudhary served as the Minister of Panchayati Raj (Independent Charge) from 2017 to 2019, later becoming a cabinet minister. After being elected as the state president, he resigned from his ministerial position.


Chaudhary has been actively involved with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the BJP for many years. In 1999, he contested against Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav for the Sambhal Lok Sabha seat but faced defeat.

In 2016, he was first elected as a member of the Legislative Council and continues to serve in the upper house. Following the BJP's victory in the 2017 state elections, he was appointed as the Minister of Panchayati Raj (Independent Charge) and later became a cabinet minister in 2019.
