Honoring Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee

On the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, the founder of the Bharatiya Janata Sangh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute by offering floral tributes. He remembered Mukherjee as a great freedom fighter, educator, and a staunch advocate for India's unity and integrity. During an event, Adityanath emphasized that Mukherjee's contributions to safeguarding the unity of the nation and opposing the special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir will always be honored. He remarked that today marks the 125th auspicious anniversary of Dr. Mukherjee, who proclaimed that 'one nation cannot have two laws, two leaders, and two flags'. On behalf of the Uttar Pradesh government and its citizens, I pay my respects to his memory.

Mukherjee's Legacy and Government Actions

Yogi Adityanath noted that after separating from the government, Dr. Mukherjee, as the founding president of the Bharatiya Janata Sangh, championed the cause of national integrity with the slogan 'one nation cannot have two laws, two leaders, and two flags', opposing the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. The Chief Minister stated that the campaign initiated by Mukherjee against Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir, was realized when the BJP government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, abrogated Article 370 in 2019. He added that with this, Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar's Constitution was fully implemented in Jammu and Kashmir. Adityanath expressed that it is fortunate for all of us that Bengal, where Dr. Mukherjee played a crucial role in saving it from the clutches of Pakistan, is now part of the governance of the Bharatiya Janata Party, which considers him an ideal. He also mentioned that the development of places associated with Mukherjee in West Bengal is being carried out by the state's double-engine government.
