Strengthening Ties Between Uttar Pradesh and Japan

On Thursday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met with Governor Kotaro Nagasaki of Japan's Yamanashi Prefecture. During this meeting, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Uttar Pradesh government and Yamanashi regarding green hydrogen technology.


According to a statement released by the state government, this agreement will facilitate advanced training for Indian students in Japan.


At the 'UP Investment Road Show' held in Yamanashi, the Chief Minister showcased the state's new development policies and investment opportunities to the global industry.


During the event, Adityanath confirmed the signing of the MoU focused on green hydrogen technology, which will allow students from Uttar Pradesh's high-tech institutions to receive training in Japan.


He emphasized that this initiative is crucial for achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi's goal of net-zero emissions.


The Chief Minister mentioned that under his leadership, the state government delegation participated in several government-to-government (G2G) and government-to-business (G2B) meetings in Tokyo, where extensive discussions took place with Japanese industry groups, facilitated by the Indian Embassy.


The statement also highlighted Adityanath's view of 'robotics' as a key future technology, noting that the Uttar Pradesh government has allocated funds in the budget to establish a 'Center of Excellence' for robotics.


He expressed confidence that the collaboration between Uttar Pradesh and Yamanashi would elevate India-Japan relations and play a significant role in achieving energy self-sufficiency and making technology accessible to the public.


Adityanath expressed gratitude to Governor Nagasaki and his team, acknowledging the Japanese government and Yamanashi administration for providing the Indian delegation with a valuable opportunity to understand their unique sectors and engage directly with the industry.


The Chief Minister also greeted prominent industrialists and members of the Indian community present at the event.


Earlier, he shared on the social media platform 'X' that he had meaningful discussions with Governor Nagasaki to further strengthen cooperation between Uttar Pradesh and Yamanashi and advance their growing strategic partnership.


He mentioned that MoUs were signed to deepen collaboration in the fields of industry, tourism, and technical education, focusing on green hydrogen, clean energy innovation, and technology exchange.


The agreement states, 'Uttar Pradesh is developing IIT Kanpur as a 'Center of Excellence' in green hydrogen to enhance energy self-sufficiency and promote Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a sustainable future.'
