Uttar Pradesh Signs MoU with Yamanashi Prefecture


Tokyo/New Delhi, Feb 26: The government of Uttar Pradesh has officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Yamanashi Prefecture in Japan, focusing on the advancement of green hydrogen technology.


Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted that this agreement will facilitate training for students from higher technical institutions in Uttar Pradesh in Japan, with plans to implement this technology across the state's industrial, public transport, and energy sectors.


He emphasized that this initiative is a significant stride towards fulfilling Prime Minister Modi’s 'Net Zero target'.


During the second day of his visit, the Chief Minister showcased Uttar Pradesh's new development policies and investment opportunities to the international industrial community at the 'UP Investment Road Show' in Yamanashi. He noted that the state has shifted its governance model from a reactive to a proactive approach, which has laid the groundwork for rapid economic growth.


Describing robotics as a pivotal future technology, the Chief Minister mentioned that the state government has allocated budget provisions for establishing a Centre of Excellence for Robotics. He expressed optimism that enhanced collaboration would elevate India-Japan relations, bolster energy self-reliance, and make technology more accessible to the general populace.


CM Yogi also pointed out Uttar Pradesh's demographic advantages and natural resources, stating that the state possesses the most fertile land in the country, ample water resources, and a vast human capital base. Over the past nine years, Uttar Pradesh has achieved remarkable development, presenting numerous growth opportunities for investors.


He reiterated that the governance model in the state has transformed significantly, moving towards a proactive framework.


"The government is actively pursuing initiatives to attract investments, support industries, embrace new technologies, and foster global partnerships. With this vision, a high-level delegation from Uttar Pradesh has traveled to Japan to turn potential into reality," CM Yogi conveyed to a gathering of technology leaders and investors.


The Chief Minister also recalled a previous visit by the Governor of Yamanashi to Uttar Pradesh in December 2024, noting that ongoing dialogues and exchanges between the two governments have propelled this cooperation forward.


He mentioned that following the insights and reports from the business delegation, the Uttar Pradesh team visited Yamanashi at the Governor’s invitation, solidifying this collaboration.
