In the wake of Australia's most devastating terrorist incident in nearly three decades at Bondi Beach, cricketer Usman Khawaja's family has been subjected to a wave of online racial harassment. Rachel Khawaja Highlights Severity of Abuse

Rachel Khawaja revealed that the family has been inundated with offensive messages following the attack. "I’ve gathered a small selection of the comments we've received over the past week," she stated. "While I wish I could say this is a new occurrence, unfortunately, we have always faced such messages. However, the intensity has certainly escalated."

Details of the Terrorist Attack

The tragic attack took place on December 14 during a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach. Two assailants, Sajid Akram and his son Naveed, opened fire, resulting in the deaths of 15 individuals in what has been labeled an antisemitic act. Sajid Akram, aged 50, was killed by police during the incident. An Indian national, he had arrived in Australia on a visa in 1998.

Charges Against Naveed Akram

Naveed Akram, 24, who was born in Australia, was hospitalized following the attack and later moved to Long Bay Correctional Complex in southeastern Sydney. He faces 15 counts of murder, along with charges related to committing a terrorist act and planting an explosive device. In total, authorities have accused him of 59 crimes, including 40 counts of intentionally causing serious injury and one charge of executing a terrorist act.
