According to the US military, a service member lost their life while attempting to dispose of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian drone in northern Iraq. On July 17, US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported the deaths of two American service members and the status of one as missing in Jordan due to an Iranian attack. Following a comprehensive search, unidentified remains were discovered at the site, and efforts to confirm their identity are underway. In a separate incident, a US service member was killed in action on July 18 during the explosive disposal operation in Iraq, while another was injured and is being treated for their wounds, as stated by CENTCOM in a post on social media.
