U.S. Secretary of State Emphasizes Stopping Iran's Nuclear Ambitions
Key Concerns Regarding Iran's Nuclear Program
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has reiterated that preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons remains a top priority. In an interview with a news channel, Rubio shared his thoughts on Iran's recent proposal.
According to Iran's proposal, the country is willing to postpone discussions about its nuclear program. In exchange, it demands that the U.S. lift its sanctions and end military actions, promising to relinquish control over the Strait of Hormuz.
Rubio expressed confidence that if the current hardline regime in Iran persists, they will undoubtedly seek to acquire nuclear weapons in the future. He emphasized that the real issue remains unresolved and is of utmost importance.
When asked whether Iran is serious about negotiations, Rubio remarked that the Iranian side consists of skilled negotiators who are merely attempting to buy time.
He stressed that the U.S. cannot allow them to proceed unchecked, insisting that any agreement must prevent Iran from gaining a definitive advantage towards acquiring nuclear weapons.
