US Military Successfully Rescues Pilot After Iran Incident
Successful Rescue Operation in Iran
President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that a service member who went missing after Iran shot down a fighter jet, specifically an F-15E Strike Eagle, has been successfully rescued. Trump shared the news on Truth Social, stating, "We Got Him." This announcement follows a rigorous search-and-rescue mission. Notably, these US military jets are the first to be downed by enemy fire in over two decades.
In his post, Trump expressed his pride in the military's efforts, stating, "WE GOT HIM! My fellow Americans, over the past several hours, the United States Military executed one of the most audacious Search and Rescue Operations in U.S. History for one of our esteemed Crew Member Officers, a highly respected Colonel, who is now SAFE and SOUND!" Trump highlighted the unprecedented nature of this operation, noting, "This is the first time in military history that two U.S. Pilots have been rescued separately deep in Enemy Territory. WE WILL NEVER LEAVE AN AMERICAN WARFIGHTER BEHIND." He elaborated on the challenges faced by the brave pilot, who was in perilous conditions in the mountains of Iran, stating that the pilot was being pursued by enemies but was never alone, as his Commander in Chief and military leaders were constantly monitoring his situation and planning his rescue.
Trump continued, "At my direction, the U.S. Military deployed numerous aircraft equipped with the most advanced weaponry to secure his retrieval. Although he sustained injuries, he is expected to recover fully."
Earlier today, a U.S. government official informed a news outlet that the second crew member from the downed F-15E has also been rescued following a "heavy firefight." While the missing crew member has been confirmed as rescued, they are not yet safe, as the rescue team still needs to exit Iran successfully.
The crew member had been unaccounted for since Friday when Iran brought down the U.S. F-15E Strike Eagle. A second crew member was rescued earlier in the operation.
