US Military Refutes Iran's Claim of Seizing American Drone

In a recent development, the US military has firmly denied Iran's claims of capturing an American surveillance drone near the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian state media reported that the Revolutionary Guard conducted an electronic warfare operation to seize control of the MQM-170 Outlaw drone. However, US Central Command has labeled these assertions as false, emphasizing that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps has a history of making desperate claims. This incident echoes a similar situation from 2011 when Iran claimed to have downed an American drone. Read on for more details about this unfolding situation.

US Denies Iran's Drone Seizure Allegation

Dubai: The United States military has rejected Iran's assertion that it successfully captured an American surveillance drone near the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Iranian state media, the Revolutionary Guard claimed that during an "electronic warfare operation," they managed to detect and take control of the MQM-170 Outlaw drone's systems, subsequently landing it within Iranian borders. However, the report did not specify the timing of this alleged incident.

In response, US Central Command labeled the Iranian report as untrue.

"In recent weeks, the IRGC has consistently spread falsehoods out of desperation, and today is no exception," stated Tim Hawkins, a spokesperson for Central Command, in an email, without elaborating further.

This is not the first time Iran has made such claims; in 2011, they asserted that they had downed an RQ-170 Sentinel drone using an "electronic ambush" tactic.
