Washington: In anticipation of upcoming peace discussions between the United States and Iran, President Trump shared a puzzling post on his Truth Social account, declaring, "WORLD’S MOST POWERFUL RESET!" This message came shortly after US Vice President JD Vance departed for Islamabad, Pakistan, to engage in talks regarding Iran. On Thursday, Trump also confirmed that all US military assets, including aircraft, ships, and weaponry, would remain stationed near Iran until a conclusive agreement is finalized. He reassured that the Strait of Hormuz would remain secure, while also indicating that the US military was preparing for its "next conquest."

Vance expressed optimism about the negotiations, stating, "We’re looking forward to negotiation. I think it's going to be positive," as he spoke to reporters at Joint Base Andrews before boarding Air Force Two for Islamabad. He emphasized that the US's strategy would hinge on Iran's readiness to engage constructively, echoing President Trump's sentiments. Vance remarked, "As the President of the United States said, if the Iranians are willing to negotiate in good faith, we're certainly willing to extend the open hand. If they're going to try to play us, then they're going to find the negotiating team is not that receptive," warning Iran of potential consequences.
The discussions in Islamabad are set against the backdrop of a two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran.

Islamabad has transformed into a fortified zone as it prepares to host significant talks between the United States and Iran, amidst a delicate ceasefire that is threatened by recent Israeli assaults on Lebanon. Security was intensified throughout the city on Thursday, with major thoroughfares closed, traffic redirected, and key locations secured ahead of the arrival of foreign delegations later that evening, according to reports.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that comprehensive arrangements have been made for the visiting delegation, referring to them as “our special guests.” He assured that a detailed plan has been established to ensure the utmost security for all foreign visitors. Reports indicate that a 30-member US team has already arrived in Islamabad to assess the security measures in place.
