Significant Deportation Figures Released by MEA

New Delhi: According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the United States has deported a total of 4,840 Indian nationals since 2025, with 1,273 deportations occurring between January and July of this year.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal provided these figures during a media briefing on Friday, stating, "From January 1 to the present date in 2026, 1,273 Indians have been sent back from the US. In the previous year, 3,567 Indian nationals faced similar deportations."

In response to inquiries, Jaiswal emphasized that India is collaborating with various governments to address deportation matters.

"Whenever such cases are brought to our attention, we ensure thorough verification to confirm the nationality of the individual being deported," he explained.

"Only after we are completely assured of their Indian nationality do we proceed with facilitating their return to India," he added.

This trend of deportations aligns with the Trump administration's intensified efforts to address illegal immigration in the United States.
