Urgent Plea for Missing Medical Student in Georgia
Family Seeks Help from Indian Authorities

Ahmedabad, May 26: A family from Ahmedabad is urgently calling for intervention from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Gujarat government following the disappearance of their 23-year-old son, a medical student in Georgia, who has been missing for 12 days amid claims of harassment from his landlord and roommates.
Dhvanit Rajdeep, who resides in Virat Nagar, was in his ninth semester at Caucasus International University. His family reported that the last communication with him occurred on May 14, after which his phone was turned off and has not been reachable since.
His father, Dr. Mayur Kumar Rajdeep, stated that Dhvanit had been subjected to ongoing mental harassment in his rented accommodation.
"Dhvanit was pursuing his medical studies in Georgia and had recently moved into a flat owned by a local resident. His roommates were causing him distress in various ways, including taking his meals, disrupting his studies, and creating disturbances," he explained.
He further mentioned that tensions escalated after Dhvanit decided to relocate to another place and had already moved some of his belongings.
"The day before he went missing, he had moved half of his things to a new flat. Following this, his flatmate Anil began threatening him, claiming they knew his new location and would harm him. He also received threatening messages and demands for money," Dr. Rajdeep added.
According to him, Dhvanit returned to the previous flat to retrieve his remaining belongings and return the keys.
"He went back to settle accounts and collect his things. Even there, he faced mental harassment. He called me to say that despite paying, he was still being tormented," he recounted.
The family alleges that Dhvanit was coerced into transferring approximately $1,500 from his account while being confined and without access to his phone.
Dr. Rajdeep mentioned that they promptly notified officials at the Indian embassy and the university after losing contact with their son.
"We immediately reached out to the Indian embassy and university officials. Our elder son has also traveled to Georgia to assist in the search for him," he noted.
Dhvanit's mother, Dharmishtha Rajdeep, made a heartfelt appeal to the authorities.
"I last spoke to my son on the 13th. The following day, he communicated with my husband. When I spoke to him, he mentioned he had arrived at the new flat with his luggage. Our last contact was on the 14th, and since then, we have been unable to reach him. I implore the government to engage with the Georgian authorities on this matter," she expressed.
"Our sole request is for my son's swift return. He was a dedicated student and was expected to return in September after completing his medical degree. I earnestly ask the Gujarat government to expedite his return," she added.
The family reported that Dhvanit's elder brother, Mihir Rajdeep, has arrived in Georgia from Canada and is working with local police and university officials.
Despite receiving support from the Indian Embassy and local political leaders, the family claims they have not received any substantial updates and assert that the local police and administration in Georgia have not acted adequately on their complaint.
With no sign of the student nearly two weeks after his disappearance, the family is now urging both the central government and the Gujarat administration to enhance diplomatic efforts to ensure his safe return.
