Hojai, June 4: A section of National Highway 27, particularly at the 'S' turning point on the Lumding-Lanka route, has raised significant alarm among the public. Local residents and travelers are urging immediate action from authorities to address the issue.
Residents report that this highway segment has suffered from erosion for several years. This critical route, which connects Lumding to Lanka and other regions in Assam, is heavily trafficked daily by numerous vehicles, including buses, commercial trucks, and private cars.
Commuters have voiced their worries that the worsening road conditions could heighten the risk of accidents, especially during bad weather or at night when visibility is compromised. The S-Turning area is particularly hazardous due to its curvature, necessitating extra caution from drivers.
Community members are questioning the lack of repairs on this damaged highway stretch, which has been visible for nearly eight to nine years. Despite the prolonged erosion, a permanent fix has yet to be undertaken.
