UPSC Launches New Online Application Portal: What You Need to Know

New Online Portal for UPSC Applications
New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has introduced a new online application portal for candidates to register and submit their application forms.
According to a statement from the UPSC, all applicants must now complete their applications and upload necessary documents using the new portal available at https://upsconline.nic.in.
The previous One Time Registration (OTR) system will no longer be in use.
This new portal aims to streamline the application process, helping candidates avoid the last-minute rush when applying for various UPSC examinations.
Comprehensive instructions are provided on the homepage and within each profile/module to assist candidates in completing their applications and uploading documents.
The UPSC strongly recommends that applicants use their Aadhaar Card as an identification document for a smoother verification process, which will serve as a permanent record for all examinations.
The new application portal is set to go live on May 28, 2025, and will accept applications for the CDS Exam-II, 2025, and NDA & NA-II, 2025, which will be announced on the same date.
The online application system consists of four sections displayed on the homepage. Three sections—account creation, universal registration, and common application form—contain information applicable to all exams and can be filled out at any time.
The fourth section is specific to examinations, where candidates must enter exam-related information during the designated application period.
This structure allows candidates to complete the first three sections in advance, preparing them to apply for any UPSC exam as soon as it is announced, thus saving time and reducing last-minute stress.
The UPSC conducts numerous examinations each year, including the highly regarded civil services exam to select candidates for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS), along with various recruitment tests and interviews for Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ positions in the central government.
