UPSC Introduces New Online Application Portal for Candidates

New Application Portal Launched
On Wednesday, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) unveiled a new online application portal designed for candidates to register and submit their application forms.
According to the UPSC announcement, all applicants must now complete their applications and upload necessary documents through the new portal at https://upsconline.nic.in. The previous One Time Registration (OTR) system will no longer be in use.
This new portal aims to help candidates save time and prevent last-minute rushes when submitting applications for various UPSC examinations.
The homepage and all associated profiles/modules come with clear instructions to assist candidates in filling out their application forms and uploading required documents.
The UPSC strongly recommends that applicants use their Aadhaar Card as an identification document for a smooth verification process, which will serve as a permanent record for all examinations.
As per the UPSC notification, the new application portal will be operational starting May 28, 2025, allowing candidates to apply for the CDS Exam-II and NDA & NA-II, 2025, which will be announced on the same date.
The online application portal is divided into four sections on the homepage. Three of these sections—account creation, universal registration, and common application form—contain shared elements applicable to all examinations and can be completed at any time.
The fourth section pertains to examination-specific information, including notices, application forms, and application status.
Candidates will only need to provide examination-specific details during the designated time frame mentioned in the examination notice.
This structure enables candidates to complete the first three sections at their convenience, preparing them to apply for any UPSC examination as soon as notifications are released, thus saving time and avoiding last-minute submissions.
The UPSC, or Indian Union Public Service Commission, is responsible for conducting various examinations annually, including the highly regarded Civil Services examination, which recruits officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS), along with other recruitment tests for Group 'A' and Group 'B' positions in the central government.
