Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed the dates, noting that there will be no sessions on August 13 and 14 due to Independence Day celebrations. An all-party meeting is set for July 19 to address various issues, particularly in light of recent events following the Pahalgam terror attack. This session will be crucial as it marks the first parliamentary meeting after Operation Sindoor, with the government planning to introduce key bills, including one to open the atomic energy sector to private companies.

Details of the Monsoon Session

Parliament Monsoon Session: The Monsoon Session, marking the Fifth Session of the Eighteenth Lok Sabha, is slated to commence on July 21 and is expected to wrap up by August 21, as per a statement from the Lok Sabha Secretariat. However, these dates may change based on the government's operational needs.


On Wednesday, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed that President Droupadi Murmu has sanctioned the proposed timeline for the session. Rijiju shared on X that there will be no parliamentary meetings on August 13 and 14 due to Independence Day festivities.


Rijiju stated on X, “The Hon'ble President of India has approved the Government's proposal to hold the Monsoon Session of Parliament from July 21 to August 21, 2025. In light of the Independence Day celebrations, there will be no sittings on the 13th and 14th of August.”


Prior to the monsoon session, the central government will hold an all-party meeting on July 19, as Rijiju announced on Thursday. This meeting comes in response to opposition leaders' calls for a special parliamentary session to address various issues, particularly following the Pahalgam terror attack.


The Minister added, “The central government has organized an all-party meeting on July 19 concerning the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament, which will commence on July 21 and continue until August 21.”


This session will notably be the first parliamentary gathering after Operation Sindoor, which was initiated in response to the Pahalgam attack that resulted in 26 fatalities.


Reports indicate that the government intends to introduce several key legislative measures during this extended session. A significant proposal anticipated is a bill aimed at allowing private companies to enter the atomic energy sector.


During this year's Budget Session, crucial legislation such as the Waqf Amendment Bill and the Finance Bill 2025 was passed, with a total of 26 sittings held throughout the session.


Additionally, the Lok Sabha approved Appropriation Bills related to the Second and Final Batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants for the fiscal year 2024-25, Excess Demands for Grants for 2021-22, and Supplementary Demands for Grants for Manipur for 2024-25, along with Demands for Grant on Account for 2025-26 concerning the State of Manipur.
